Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffJanuary 4, 2008It's a wiz at erasing Internet Explorer history after the fact, but watch out for this freeware tool's AutoErase feature.#1 Free History Eraser has a small interface with a pane in the center and a few buttons arranged vertically on the right. Its not very intuitive for first-time users, but our testers bravely hit the Erase button. History Eraser responded quickly, and the directory location and filenames of the temporary files it erased autocompleted and typed URLs, index.dat files--scrolled down in the center pane. An AutoErase feature is included, which seems to erase such files as they are created. It didn't work as intended for some of our testers, who reported that IE locked up and shut down on occasion when this feature was enabled. Vista users should note that they could be on their own figuring the application out. The Help file is in a format that the new OS doesn't support. The intermittent issue with the AutoErase feature aside, this freeware tool easily rids your PC of Internet Explorer history.
