Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffSeptember 8, 2006There's no charge for this database to collect your recipes, but its overly simplistic design isn't very appealing. Recipe Database's compact interface is bland, but navigating is nearly foolproof. Large buttons offer access to all of its features, and you can easily add recipes through a Wizard-like approach. Just enter what is being asked for (e.g., recipe name, author, number of servings, ingredients, and directions) and you're ready to go.Recipes are presented in a plain, Notepad-like layout. You can add recipes to your Favorites or view all recipes. Search tools are simple and effective but case-sensitive. Recipe Database exports recipes in TXT and RCP (a format proprietary to the program) files. The program doesn't include sample entries or a Help file, but help isn't really necessary to figure things out.Unfortunately, the program doesn't allow you to sort dishes into categories, a time-saving feature found in similar apps. This freeware application serves as a simple recipe collector, but there are a host of other programs that offer additional features and have a more polished presentation.
