Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffFebruary 20, 2007Despite a few minor misses, this easy-to-use database application conveniently stores your favorite recipes. My Recipe Books 4's novice-friendly interface offers clearly labeled graphical buttons to manage recipes. The program comes preloaded with only a few dishes, but it's easy to add recipes and create categories and subcategories. You simply select, tick, or type ingredients and measurements to get your recipes set up. Recipes are neatly displayed, and you can add images to complement the text instructions. My Recipe Book 4's shopping list generator and resizing tool are handy features, and we liked the detailed nutritional information for recipes, although a meal planner would have been a nice addition. The search tool is nothing special, but it works well. You can export recipes into one format (RTF) or you can send them to your iPod (but only once during trial). You're also limited to two recipes, categories, and subcategories during trial. Overall, the recipes are nicely displayed and easy to follow, and we liked the option to add images. My Recipe Books may lack the features found in more expensive apps, but it covers the basics very well.
