Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffSeptember 12, 2012Tvalx specializes in mathematical software; its Scientific Calculator Decimal is essentially a virtual version of the classic handheld scientific calculator optimized for calculating decimals. It's suitable for everyone from math students to scientists and engineers. It's precise up to 30 digits and includes trigonometric, hyperbolic, and inverse functions. As with other calculating tools from Tvalx, Scientific Calculator Decimal has a clean, efficient, attractive layout that's largely based on the functional design of handheld scientific calculators, though you can customize the look, too. The layout strikes a good balance between busy and clean. File, Edit, Tools, and Help menus line a horizontally divided main display. The top half features fields for x and y entries and results, and a calculation history display that can be saved as a text file and printed out, while the bottom half is the button field. The program works much like a handheld calculator, but with the advantage of two entry modes, the interface buttons or keyboard and number pad. Calculations are as quick and accurate as any comparable tool or software, and its accuracy out to 30 decimal places makes it useful to all but the most precise needs.Scientific Calculator Decimal works in the latest versions of Windows, and its compact size makes it a great take-along tool for laptops. We especially appreciate the flexibility the program's dual-mode entry brings. When combined with the program's low cost, it makes it more than a viable alternative both to an expensive standalone calculator as well as pricier mathware products. It's highly recommended.Editor's note: This is a review of the full version of Scientific Calculator Decimal 1.0.1.1. The trial version is limited to 30 days trial only.
