The samples and documentation make it easy for software developers who are new to mapping and GPS programming to get a quick start. GPS Tools provides easy access to GPS position, speed, and satellite information without any knowledge of low-level GPS protocols. Geographic coordinates can be converted between most coordinate systems including UTM, WGS84, NAD27, and NAD83. Raster maps and ESRI shape files can be defined and used to draw objects on such as icons, lines, rectangles, and text. The maps can also be connected to the GPS. You can draw on multiple layers; the map can be zoomed and rotated. To get started, a rich set of samples are included in Visual Basic, C#, C++, and Java script.
