Workgroup Backup is specially designed to back up files from several computers onto a networked server. You can set the backup frequency and the number of versions you want to store. This is a fairly basic program, which lacks such common features as the ability to pack files or secure them with a password. Typically for freeware, Workgroup Backup suffers from a shoddy interface and a meager help file. To make up for the lack of documentation, the program dialogs are cluttered with instructions--a mixed blessing at best. Also, though Workgroup Backup is designed for network use, it doesn't let you browse networked computers. It's not a terrible choice for a small office on a tight budget, but some will prefer to use more polished software for this mission-critical task.
